Winner of Spiel des Jahres 2010, Dixit is an incredibly easy to learn
game for 3 to 6 players.
Each round one player is chosen to be the storyteller, who must choose
one of the cards from their hand, each of which has a picture on it. The
storyteller must come up with a word or phrase that has some relevance
to the card they have chosen and tell this to the rest of the players
without revealing their card. The rest of the players then choose one
of their cards that best matches the storyteller's phrase and hands that
card to the storyteller, who then shuffles all of the cards together
without looking at them. The chosen cards are all dealt out and the
players must vote on which card they feel is the Storyteller's card.
Points are scored for successfully selecting the Storyteller's
card or having your card selected by another player. The Storyteller
scores no points if none or all of the players chooses his/her card, so
it is important for the storyteller to make their word or phrase
difficult but not too obscure.
The rules also come with a 3 player variant, and help to create
your own rules variants, making Dixit a wonderfully re-playable game,
and highly enjoyable for kids and adults alike!
